ARTIST AND CUSTOMER IN EUROPE OF THE 18TH CENTURY: ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE LANDSCAPE PAINTER JOSEPH VERNET (1714-1789)

Abstract. The theme of the interaction between the artist and the customer is very relevant for the study of art of the XVIII century. The emergence of museums and public exhibitions, as well as the art criticism associated with them, led to the fact that the social composition of the customers expanded to a large extent, and their preparedness in the field of painting increased. Many customers now want to have original works, and not copies or the fruits of the work of the workshop. The self-awareness of the artist, who is very concerned about the problem of realizing his own talent and personal fame, has also changed compared to previous centuries. The painter is actively looking for customers not only at home, but also abroad, not only in the circles of the aristocracy, but also among interested representatives of less noble classes.

The case of Joseph Vernet provides the researcher with a unique opportunity to penetrate the world of an 18th-century artist through a large number of surviving documents. Of particular value are the master’s notebooks, which he kept throughout his life, starting from 1735, and in which he records information about all the works commissioned to him. The details of the royal order are revealed in the master’s correspondence with the director of the royal buildings, the Marquis de Marigny, and in a special program for the artist compiled by this nobleman.

The result of this study should be not only the replenishment of information about the life and work of Joseph Vernet, undoubtedly an outstanding landscape painter of his time, but also the identification of the characteristic features of a new socio-cultural environment in which the artist and the customer had to interact.

PRINCE MIKHAIL VASILIEVICH SKOPIN-SHUISKY. THE LAST OF THE RURIKOVICHES, CROWNED TO THE KINGDOM IN THE HEARTS OF THE PEOPLE

Abstract. The article describes the main stages in the life of the outstanding Russian commander of the early 17th century, Prince Mikhail Vasilievich Skopin-Shuisky. His leadership talent was revealed in one of the most dramatic periods in Russian history – the Time of Troubles, when, due to internal political turmoil and foreign intervention, Russia found itself on the brink of an abyss with the prospect of actual collapse and loss of sovereignty.

Prince Mikhail Skopin-Shuisky was one of those who did not allow the country to fall into the abyss. He was destined to be one of the most prominent Russian commanders of the Time of Troubles. The victories of M. Skopin-Shuisky are comparable to the victories of Dmitry Donskoy and Alexander Nevsky. But, unlike them, his merits did not receive wide coverage.

The military career of the prince was short, but bright and eventful. It began in the autumn of 1606 and ended with the death of the commander in the spring of 1610 – only four incomplete years. But these were years of continuous victories. Moreover, victories won in an extremely difficult situation, sometimes bordering on a national catastrophe. And every time, it was the labors of the young prince Skopin-Shuisky who managed to postpone this catastrophe.

At the same time, M. Skopin-Shuisky himself, when he achieved victories, was only 21-23 years old. He started winning at the age of 22, and at 23 he won his most significant victories. And at this age, Mikhail Vasilievich Skopin-Shuisky rightfully earned the reputation of an outstanding Russian commander of the early 17th century. The most figurative phenomenon of M. Skopin-Shuisky reflected the outstanding Russian historian S.M. Solovyov, according to whom, the 23-year-old governor, by the will of fate, became a point of attraction for people’s hope. Russian society suffered from the absence of a point of support, from the absence of a person to whom one could become attached, around whom one could concentrate; such a person was, finally, Prince Skopin.

The military labors of Prince Mikhail Vasilyevich Skopin-Shuisky, his military leadership, managed to suppress the armed rebellion of 1606-1607, push back the Polish invaders from the center of the country and liberate the Trinity-Sergius Lavra and Moscow from the blockade. During his lifetime, he was called the savior of the Fatherland and they saw him as a sovereign capable of leading the country out of the crisis. M. Skopin-Shuisky could bring many more benefits to the Fatherland. But this was prevented by envy, lust for power and poisoned wine. Nevertheless, the feat of Prince Mikhail Vasilyevich Skopin-Shuisky remained forever in the people’s memory, making him a national hero.

POSITIONS OF THE USA AND FRANCE REGARDING THE ALGERIA-MOROCCA ARMED CONFLICT (OCTOBER 8-30, 1963)

Abstract. This article discusses the positions of the United States and France regarding the Algerian-Moroccan border conflict that broke out in October 1963. After gaining independence, many countries of the African continent were drawn into territorial conflicts. These disputes are mainly the result of their colonial past, when state borders were not officially demarcated. The conflict between Algeria and Morocco is interesting because from the first minutes it attracted the attention of Western countries, which, in the conditions of the Cold War, considered the Maghreb as one of the arenas for the struggle of two blocs – Western and Eastern. The relevance of the study is determined by the fact that the conflict of 1963 became a prerequisite for the current tense situation associated with the disputed status of the territories of Western Sahara and control over them. The scientific novelty of the chosen topic is due to the lack of works on this topic in Russian historiography. The source base on the topic is represented by public statements of the Algerian and Moroccan governments, US and French foreign policy documents, reports of the US Central Intelligence Agency, as well as press materials during the period under review.

“FROM SOVDEPSIA TO UKRAINE”: THE ESCAPE OF THE FORMER PALACE COMMANDANT V. N. VOEIKOV IN 1918 (TO THE HISTORY OF POST-REVOLUTIONARY EMIGRATION)

Abstract. For the first time in Russian historiography, the article analyzes the ways and means of migration of the state, political and court elite from Russia to Ukraine in 1918 on the example of the escape of the former palace commandant of Emperor Nicholas II, General V.N. Voeikov. A comparison is made with similar shoots of the representative of the Romanov dynasty, Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna, as well as political figures A.A. Goldenweiser and M.M. Vinaver. The main source of the study is the memoirs of emigrants, the objectivity of the testimonies of which is substantiated by a comparative analysis of their information. Through the methodological prism of historical anthropology and the history of everyday life, the conditions of life and life of forced migrants are reconstructed. At the same time, special attention is paid not only to the external, eventful side of the migration of elites, but also to the internal, reflexive, to how the exiles themselves perceived their mass exodus from the country. The author comes to the conclusion about the existence of a “migration route” to Ukraine, passing along the Petrograd-Vitebsk railway. Among the reasons for the emigration of representatives of the imperial elite were both objective (famine in Petrograd, persecution by the Bolsheviks) and subjective (personal rejection of the new system) reasons.

THE IMAGE OF ALEXANDER I ON THE PAGES OF THE NEWSPAPER “ALLGEMEINE ZEITUNG”

Abstract. Alexander I – the brilliant winner of Napoleon, peacemaker and triumphant – in the mid-1810s. won the hearts of the general European public. Sympathy for him, among other things, was reflected in the press, which sought to capture every step of the monarch. However, his gradual departure from liberal to moderate political positions naturally prompted adjustments in the assessment of his image. The article examines the question of how the Russian emperor appeared in the coverage of the well-known German newspaper “Allgemeine Zeitung” over the course of a decade – from the establishment of the Vienna system to his death and the time of reaction to it – and whether his image changed on the pages of the newspaper.

EMPRESS DOWAGER CIXI AND THE BOXER REBELLION IN CHINA ACCORDING TO RUSSIAN PRESS

Abstract. The article deals with Russian periodicals and examines the role of Empress Dowager Cixi in Chinese Boxer rebellion, which had its peak in May–August 1900. The lack of reliable information from China due to the disruption of telegraph communications was compensated by the publication of various materials, including rumors, from the foreign press. Russian historiography has paid attention to Russian press coverage of the Boxer rebellion in the context of Russian-Chinese relations and the fate of the Chinese civilization in the early twentieth century. However, the key figure of those events, Empress Dowager Cixi, who was considered as the actual ruler of the Qing Empire, has remained on the periphery of research. The conclusion is made that readers of the Russian press were regularly informed about the actions and political decisions of the Empress Dowager, including her support of the rebels and the announcement of war to the foreign powers that had made a landing in the empire. However, these publications do not negatively assess her activity, strong-willed qualities and desire to preserve the integrity of the empire.

ACTIVITIES OF THE MOSCOW CITY DUMA TO REFORM PUBLIC EDUCATION AND ENLIGHTENMENT IN 1863-1869

Abstract. The article is devoted to the problems of improving the urban system of primary and secondary education in Moscow in the 1860s. For the first time this question was raised by the first elected Moscow City Duma in 1863-1869. Among the achievements of this period, we should highlight: the organization of the first women’s schools, the establishment of numerous scholarships, the solution of the issue of allocating funds for the functioning of the Arnold School for the Deaf and Dumb, the opening of museums, etc. All this was available not only to privileged strata, but to every resident of Moscow. A great merit in achieving many of the tasks set in this field belongs to the Moscow mayor A.A. Shcherbatov, who was sympathetic to the lower classes, thanks to his upbringing and experience of interaction. He personally controlled part of the tasks solved by the Duma; was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Moscow Commercial School and was appointed head of the Board of Trustees of the Moscow Meshchansky School.

POLITICAL STRUGGLE IN THE AGE OF THE WARS OF THE ROSES IN THE LIGHT OF ENGLISH PARLIAMENTARY LEGISLATION

Abstract. This article discusses the events of the Wars of the Roses from the point of view of their coverage in the legislation of the English Parliament. The main source is the parliamentary statutes, which reflect the events of the dynastic conflict of 1455-1485 and the royal policy of this period. The confrontation between the Yorks and the Lancasters is extremely heterogeneously covered in legislative acts, the documents of the Lancastrian parliaments have not been preserved in full, their policy has to be judged largely on the basis of the actions of the hostile party. As regards the policy of the Yorkists, it actually falls into two stages: before and after 1467. At the first stage, first Richard, Duke of York, and then his son Edward IV, pursued a course of compromise, seeking to win over the supporters of the Lancasters through concessions and grants. After the conflict between Edward and the Earl of Warwick and the attempt to restore the Lancasters, changes in royal policy took place, expressed in the course of the maximum strengthening of royal power and a significant weakening of the role of parliament in politics. This course was largely continued by subsequent kings and found its highest expression in the absolutism of the Tudors.

THE CONCEPT OF “MILITARY MONARCHY” AND THE FOREIGN POLITICAL CONTEXT OF THE REIGN OF IVAN IV IN R. YU. VIPPER’S MONOGRAPH

Abstract. This article is devoted to the monograph “Ivan the Terrible” by the historian Robert Yuryevich Wipper. In the present study, there are two main current topics, which are reflected in detail in the titled version of Wipper’s work. The first theme is the concept of “people’s monarchy”; the second topic is the foreign policy context of the reign of Ivan IV. Both topics are relevant to the present, since, despite the fact that different editions of R. Yu. Wipper’s work were published from 1922 to 1945, references to this work of his and debatable responses to the researcher’s concepts appear in the works of specialists to this day. The journalistic sharpness of the monograph and the sharpness of the formulations of R.Yu. Vipper turned out to be a very good ground for the ongoing disputes about the nature of the Russian state in the interpretation of R.Yu. Wipper.

TECHNOLOGIES OF SOCIAL NETWORKS ANALYSIS TO IDENTIFY SOCIAL TRENDS

Abstract. One of the conditions for the effective management of modern society and its subsystems is the timely and accurate determination of social trends – stable trends and dominant directions of social dynamics. In the context of the digital transformation of society, social networks have become the main platform for social communications and, consequently, the collection of empirical data. However, the volume of information in social networks far exceeds the possibilities of its processing in the usual ways, creating a need for algorithmization and automation of this process. The authors of the article made an attempt to develop an analytical algorithm for the subsequent creation of an appropriate software product. The article considers the laws of value of a social network by D. Sarnoff, R. Metcalfe, D. Reed and J. Zipf, analyzes the properties of social networks presented in the form of social graphs, defines metrics that describe the strength of the influence of socio-psychological effects on the user of the network, the specifics of media texts in social networks are revealed, correlations between social effects and the formation of social media trends are derived. The results of the work can serve as a basis for developing a software product for automated processing of a corpus of media texts in social networks.

CAREER VALUES AS SOCIO-PSYCHOLOGICAL DETERMINANTS OF DECISION-MAKING ON LABOR MIGRATION

Abstract. The problem of making a decision on labor migration may arise against the background of dissatisfaction with the socio-economic situation in the region of residence, the crisis of professional development. The decision on labor migration is based on the value-semantic sphere of the individual. The purpose of the study is to study the relationship between career anchors and migration activity, as well as mediation of this connection by migration intentions. The empirical study was implemented by the method of anonymous questioning (in person and online). The sample consisted of 418 people aged 20 to 56 years (SD=36) living in Russian cities (Smolensk, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Samara, Saratov, etc.). Methods: questionnaire “Career Anchors” (author E.G. Shane (adaptation by A.A. Zhdanovich)); questionnaire on the study of components of planned migration behavior, developed according to the methodology of the theory of planned behavior by A. Aizen (migration intentions and behavior for their implementation). As a result of structural equation modeling, it was shown that there are significant links between migration intentions and career anchors, as well as their indirect links with the behavior of implementing migration intentions. The revealed links between career anchors and migration activity, as well as mediation of these links by migration intentions: career anchors job stability, place of residence stability, integration of lifestyles, challenge and professionalism predict migration intentions, and intentions, in turn, predict behavior in the implementation of migration intentions. The findings can be used for psychological support of the decision-making process on labor migration.

MODEL OF PEDAGOGICAL SUPPORT OF SOCIALIZATION OF STUDENTS OF THE SUVOROV MILITARY SCHOOLS OF THE MIA OF RUSSIA AT THE INITIAL STAGE OF LEARNING

Abstract. The return of state attention to military-patriotic education, the professional definition of students as an aspect of the goal of the Suvorov military schools of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, as well as the subordinate nature of the educational process in them, which carries the risk of dehumanization, determines the interest of theory and practice in adequate pedagogical support for the socialization of pupils at the initial stage of education. The analysis of the special literature and the existing practice of organizing the educational process in the Suvorov military schools of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia made it possible to form the necessary theoretical potential for the development of an adequate pedagogical model. Further, the article describes the normative pedagogical model of pedagogical support through mentoring, which includes target, theoretical and methodological, managerial, technological and evaluative-effective interrelated structural blocks. An example is given of checking the effectiveness of the implementation of the proposed model on the basis of one of the schools through a pedagogical experiment, where the key criterion is to maintain a balance between the adaptation of older adolescents in a new environment for themselves and the possibility of self-realization and self-improvement. The model, developed on the basis of the humanitarian-anthropological approach, shows the possibility in practice to carry out the culturally appropriate socialization of pupils at the initial stage of education in educational institutions under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

AREA-SOURCE AND AREA-TARGET OF A CONCEPTUAL METAPHOR AS CRITERIA FOR GROUPING PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS IN TEACHING AIDS

Abstract. The article discusses various methods of grouping units of figurative vocabulary in the preparation of textbooks and teaching aids for students studying English as a foreign language. The author makes an overview of scientific views on metaphor, ways of classifying figurative vocabulary, considers the problem of the lack of generally accepted principles for classifying such units in the scientific community. The author attaches special importance to the theory of conceptual metaphor. The author analyzes the methods of grouping figurative vocabulary in textbooks based on the structure of the conceptual metaphor: according to the source area and according to the target area, as well as the grouping method according to the two areas of the conceptual metaphor. The author comes to the conclusion that the first method is more suitable for chapters of textbooks on everyday subjects, while the second method is more effective for developing topics involving abstract concepts. The third method makes it possible to study cultural information, the carrier of which is a metaphor, although it makes it difficult to select textual educational material.

DEVELOPMENT OF MULTIPLE-SELF CONCEPTS IN PSYCHOLOGY

Abstract. This paper presents a methodological study and description of the development of the concept of multiple-I and their current state in psychology. The main groups of multiple-I concepts are singled out. The main criterion for distinguishing different concepts is the author’s justification for the appearance of plurality and the mechanism that allows you to keep different I within a single system. The author comes to the conclusion that the main concepts of the multiple-I can be divided into four groups: hierarchical – where there is a single I-position that integrates others; motivational – in which I appear on the basis of different motives and are retained while focusing on a single motive; containment – in which the basis is the form itself, the shell, which creates a single system from various I-positions; and integrating – being collective from past groups. As a conclusion, the concept of the transition of I-positions from secondary to main ones is proposed, which can be the main way of existence of the multiple I.

EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT OF KRASNOYARSK RAILWAY

Abstract. The article presents the results of an empirical study of the involvement of employees of the Krasnoyarsk Railway, conducted in December 2021 – January 2022. It is shown that the study of personnel involvement is part of the overall annual work of JSC Russian Railways, carried out in order to target the identification of development zones for certain parameters of the social and personnel policy in functional branches and their regional divisions, as well as improving the employee knowledge management system and developing corporate culture. Research using online surveys developed on the basis of the Hewitt Associates engagement methodology shows that engagement is not a stable indicator, it changes dynamically from year to year, differs among respondents depending on gender, age, type of employment, length of service, as in branches, and for the company as a whole. The highest indicators are in terms of involvement in the workflow, and the lowest in terms of the level of involvement in solving corporate problems. In order to form a complete picture of involvement, it became clear not only the level, but also the specific reasons that determine it, such studies must be supplemented with qualitative methods, and interviews in particular.

ISSUES OF IMPROVING PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELING AND TRAINING IN SPORTS AND DANCE ACTIVITIES OF YOUTH

Abstract. Sports activities, in particular, sports and dance activities, is one of the major factors for the formation of abilities for social cognition, communication, and a health-saving lifestyle. However, both in mass sports and in high-performance sports, there are certain risks of physical and emotional exhaustion, various levels of disappointment, loss of faith in the coach, partner, and yourself. The purpose of this study was to improve the basic program of psychological counseling and training (developed and tested earlier in the author’s dissertation research) based on content analysis of appeals from highly qualified athletes-dancers aged 21-25 in the 2021-2022 competition season for psychological help. The content analysis of the requests of athletes-dancers for psychological help showed that they are divided into three categories: a request for correction of psychophysiological conditions (25%), a request for the development of cohesion in a dance couple (27%), request for the formation of a successful dance career scenario (48%). Training exercises and consultations are aimed at correcting and developing self-esteem, goal-setting, anxiety and communication skills. As a result of the study, it was concluded that there is a need for continuous improvement of psychological counseling programs and trainings for the correction of anxiety, the development of self-esteem, self-control in communication, goal-setting, taking into account the specifics of sports activities and complex socio-cultural circumstances; in dance sports of the highest achievements for the age category of 21-25 years, the predominant problem is the combination of dance career plans.

In men, with an increase in extroversion indicators, anti-racism indicators will increase (r=,464, at p=0.05). Benevolence and responsiveness, which characterize the scale of attachment, contribute to anti-racism (r=,519, at p = 0.05), increase tolerance. In women, the “self-control – impulsivity” factor is inversely correlated with the “softness- rigidity” factor (r=-,368 at p=0.05). With increasing self-control and striving for social normativity, rigidity in political aspirations, orientation to masculinity and orderliness in society will increase. Inverse correlation between the scales “dominance – subordination” and “progressivity – reactivity” (r= -,320 at p=0.05).

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING OF FUTURE PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORTS TEACHERS BASED ON AN INTEGRATIVE APPROACH

Abstract. The purpose of the study is to show the feasibility and possibilities of an integrative approach in the implementation of the process of professional training of future teachers of physical culture and sports. Understanding the processes occurring in the body during physical work is possible only on the basis of the implementation of an integrative approach. The future teacher of physical culture and sports should be able not only to select physical exercises to solve the tasks of the educational and training process, but also to know what happens in the body during work, which energy systems provide the energy of specific physical work, to choose, based on this knowledge, training tools that provide positive dynamics in the expansion of functional reserves. The paper shows ways to optimize the training process and specific diagnostic techniques that allow assessing the level of energy processes and the overall functional state of the body.
